This morning was a series of tickled pink moments. I attended a Women & Wellness breakfast to benefit Massey Cancer center. Attending this event is a bit of tradition started by our dear friend Beth Williams. Today we honored her memory by wearing bright pink wigs, just as Beth did while battling breast cancer. To paraphrase her husband, Jim, Beth could make something fun out of just about anything, including cancer. By wearing the wigs, we got to not only brighten the room a tad, but also to tell Beth's story over and over. As Becky Massey pointed out, "Beth was having a great morning." (Hint: You can click on the picture to get a better view....you don't want to miss Jim in Beth's original pink wig!)
We also got to hear Mary Lou Retton speak. Her story about her journey to the 1984 Olympics and her message about success requiring us to step out of our comfort zone was inspirational. What could you accomplish today, if you took a small step outside of your comfort zone? For me, this morning, that step was wearing a bright pink wig and the reward was feeling like Beth was right there with us.
